Seoul, the shining heart of South Korea, has seen so many changes over the years, each reflecting a piece of its deep-rooted history. Once called “Hanyang” during the Joseon Dynasty times, ‘Seoul’ is a name that means “capital” in Korean. Throughout its rich history, this lively city has seen its fair share of ups and downs, from invasions to challenges that tested its spirit. Yet Seoul continually rejuvenates itself, rising above all odds. When the 20th century rolled in, with all its fast-paced modern changes, the city started to feel a gap between its cherished traditions and the new world. Some even joked, saying “Seoul has no soul.” But these jokes and critiques? They sparked a fresh wave of pride and introspection. Now, as you walk its streets, you can’t help but be amazed by the mix — tall, sleek buildings standing proudly next to ancient palaces and temples. It’s clear: Seoul is a city that cherishes its past while embracing the future.
